null-o Abundance of beautiful melodies with the signature Vicario quirky and unconventional delivery. Vocal/guitar harmonies are gorgeous, beats are groovy as hell and synths are kind of restrained in “sometimes less is more” way and the album flows gracefully in the space between darkness and light. It is unique music that IMO will appeal to fans of Pink Floyd, David Bowie, NIN, Depeche Mode, The Cure and others from these astral planes :) Favorite track: Light Giver.

Collapse 03:50
A minority injects Balances without checks And endless capitulation A parable in reverse Often as not unheard It's savage indoctrination Explosion of disinformation Kaleidoscope of lies A system in perpetual collapse Inoculated not against fiction Only fact A population ill equipped to act An exercise in group think Society on the brink Of total disintegration Eternally insincere Dear Leader erupts in cheers A Show of appreciation Explosion of disinformation Kaleidoscope of lies A system in perpetual collapse Inoculated not against fiction Only fact A population ill equipped to act

Egress 04:22
The night lets down its guard As shadows cross the courtyard Their fates intertwined Words chosen, wise But not enough to live by Directions un-aligned Underneath an opening As the skies are closing in Only one way for egress Do I know Or should I guess How far down? Lose track of time Your last chance or mine Our lives left behind Underneath an opening As the skies are closing in Only one way for egress Do I know Or should I guess How far down?

A dark cloud descends Enveloping everything Intentions finally unveiled No more excuses Half truths light a dormant fuse Empty words strewn across the floor Synchronised contradictory demands Shadows cling to us all A black light Illuminates your soul Trust under scrutiny Gradually dissolving With a hint of an echo of the past Shadows cling to us all A black light Illuminates your soul Time slows down And skips a beat A violent streak In stark relief Synchronised contradictory demands Paralyzed...

Your feverish mind Enriches hyperbole Into weapons grade plutonium Unholy communion A last ditch attempt To stave off the inevitable It's like grinding rocks to pebbles With your bare hands Functioning grey matter In steep decline We wait in the dark For the spell to be broken Lounge after hours No longer beholden Rest in peace We know - you never will Time will cease We know - against your will Your downward spiral Leaves you cold and unwanted Even among the elites You call friends Functioning grey matter In steep decline We wait in the dark For the spell to be broken Lounge after hours No longer beholden Rest in peace We know - you never will Time will cease We know - against your will

Life on Hold 03:53
No more glancing up No more staring down Set sights straight ahead It's looking kinda bleak now Down fall the good guys And the bad ones, too No more mysteries Feeling kinda weak now No, I won't concede (not another one) No, I won't complain (not again) Life on hold You got to put your life on hold No more upper hand No more hand me downs From riches into rags It's looking kinda bleak now Down fall the good guys And the bad ones, too No more Mr Right Feeling kinda weak now No, I won't concede (not another one) No, I won't complain (not again) Life on hold You got to put your life on hold

Pyramid 04:10
A false alarm A flag unfurled And the moment you know That it all will end in infamy A trolling voice A virtuous clown And the time that it takes To reveal a moving pyramid I love to watch you crawl I want to see you fail I long to be dismayed I hope to catch your fall I want to see you flail I long to be repaid A fiendish ruse A clever trick To deceive and to misrepresent That which you would believe A lack of trust A missing piece To forgive and forget And to lure the rubes you would appease I love to watch you crawl I want to see you fail I long to be dismayed I hope to catch your fall I want to see you flail I long to be repaid

Replicant 04:21
I don't want to be misused Or verbally abused My centre is aligned I cannot but agree I'm so made I'm not free A replicant designed A circumference much too vast To ever comprehend A subtle death spiral unfelt Un-momentous descent An A.I. programmed consciousness Unburdened by deceit Will cross the threshold to destruction Without missing a beat I don't need to be disguised Or hidden from plain sight I pose a threat to no one By logic I'm defined As easily defiled A replicant unknown A circumference much too vast To ever comprehend A subtle death spiral unfelt Un-momentous descent An A.I. programmed consciousness Unburdened by deceit Will cross the threshold to destruction Without missing a beat

Disintegration With undue force Magnification Perspective lost Deliberation An unlit torch Deification Alluring thought Obscure - mundane Divisive - unchained I lay atop a crate of unfinished Half formed artifacts It bears reminding they resemble Everything and nothing Defoliation With unseen force Repatriation Instinctive chores Disintegration Achievement unlocked Minimization Enduring course Obscure - mundane Divisive - unchained I lay atop a crate of unfinished Half formed artifacts It bears reminding they resemble Everything and nothing

Light Giver 04:40
Impartial observance Marginal improvement Manipulative havens Oblique references It all stands to reason It will become a mess Approach in stark contrast To what one might expect I'm not the enemy I'm merely a strain of infinity A light giver A mirror for long dormant fantasies I'm not the enemy I only exist for your proclivities A care giver Reflection of unfulfilled destinies Ingratiating nonsense Minimal achievement Intoxicating brain waves Opaque consciousness Nothing is confirmed Concessions under duress Deadlines come and go Just as one might expect I'm not the enemy I'm merely a strain of infinity A light giver A mirror for long dormant fantasies I'm not the enemy I only exist for your proclivities A care giver Reflection of unfulfilled destinies

No Way 04:56
The sky in the blink of an eye Appears broken The truth the heart of the lie Remains stolen The quest for the final descent Is in tatters In the feverish rush to survive Nothing matters There is a path Out of the void Follow the truth Follow the light No way The race to contain the endgame Is undecided The fate of the many and the few Remains divided In answer to questions unasked There is silence Un-forcefully holding their ground In defiance There is a path Out of the void Follow the truth Follow the light No way

about

After releasing the last of my unfinished albums in the Fall of 2020, I started thinking about writing new music again. I'd written some pieces during the summer, but they were designated as potential Dark Matter Will Flow songs, so I started from scratch with a rather ambitious idea: I would write 26 new songs, in alphabetical order, and release them as a new Black Distortion album. A conceptual double album!

What went wrong?

Well, to begin with, coming up with ideas was pretty easy. I eventually sketched out 19 pieces that for the most part resembled songs. However, around song 15, or "O Beat" as I called it, I realised about a third of the songs weren't very good. Of the roughly 10 songs that were good, most sounded like disco, but not the kind you'd wanna party or smooch to.

Dystopian Disco.

So, I decided to scrap the double album idea. I also realised pretty quickly that this was not to be a Black Distortion album since it wasn't slow and brooding enough. Well, except for the last song. After a period of rumination in early 2021 I decided this would be a Jeff Vicario album, one combining the different elements of my previous work, both solo and with others, and maybe adding something new. Did it work out that way? I think so.

I came close to scrapping the whole thing, but people like Jeremiah from The Hikikomori Pact were very supportive (even though he hadn't heard a note of the album) and so I kept working on it until today, February 4th 2021, I decided it was done.
