This song isn't particularly about anything. The phrase "madness reigns" leapt into my mind when I was working on the chorus and that became the title.

The song was very much bass driven from the start. It was entirely written on bass, and I deliberately drove it slightly ahead of the beat. Well, I say "deliberately". Actually, that's the only way I know how to play.

Anyway, the song was inspired by The Vapors. And Queen. And Iron Maiden.
