Refused was the first piece of music I wrote for Disco Dystopia in October 2020. I originally thought it would have been an interesting way to start the album, but in the end it was left off DD completely. I guess my main problem with the song was the beat which I could never get right. Refused is also a - kind of - love song, so it might have seemed out of place on such a dark album.

In early November 2021 Stan form Null-O Band sent me a bunch of beats and one of them sounded like it might work on this song. I dropped it in the session, it sounded great and it was Bandcamp Friday so I thought I'd just release it.

As with just about everything else from the DD sessions, this song features mostly first take demo vocals and guitar parts. That's not an excuse, just a fact.
