about
Egress was one of the early - and thus Black Distortion-esque - songs written for the album. It felt very disjointed and weirdly modular, which was probably a function of how it was written; in a very piecemeal kind of way. I wasn't sure it would work and still am not, but it's a part of the album. Disco Dystopia wouldn't work without it.
lyrics
The night lets down its guard
As shadows cross the courtyard
Their fates intertwined
Words chosen, wise
But not enough to live by
Directions un-aligned
Underneath an opening
As the skies are closing in
Only one way for egress
Do I know
Or should I guess
How far down?
Lose track of time
Your last chance or mine
Our lives left behind
Underneath an opening
As the skies are closing in
Only one way for egress
Do I know
Or should I guess
How far down?
